After declaring a national emergency over the COVID-19 pandemic, President Donald Trump, declared Sunday, March 15th as a National Day of Prayer.

“We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these.”

It is time for us to prepare for the threat of coronavirus both physically and spiritually.

How do we do this?

First, check yourself.  Are you in a right relationship with God? Do you know God, or have you ever considered God at all?  Or maybe you’ve walked away from your faith.  Whatever the circumstance, God is a loving Father, merciful and compassionate, willing and waiting to embrace you as his son or daughter and restore you into right fellowship with himself.  Jesus died on a cross 2,000 years ago for you and me to give us hope and offer us new life, not only for now, but for all eternity. If we turn to Him, we can confidently replace fear with faith.  For more information on how to have a relationship with God, click here, or watch this video.

How do we pray?

The word of God teaches us, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

  • First, confess your sins before God and confess on behalf of our country our sins of apostasy.  Then, ask God, in His mercy, to stop this pandemic and save lives—not only in our communities but around the world.  (Isaiah 59)
  • Second, pray for President Donald Trump and other government leaders—international, federal, state, and local—to have the wisdom to direct us in the best courses of action for prevention and care. (Romans 13:1-2)
  • Third, pray that the Lord will give us wisdom in this moment of fear and uncertainty, as the foundations of what we know are shaken, that we would realize how fragile life is and how real eternity is and see our need to turn to God. (Psalm 90:12-14)
  • Finally, pray against a spirit of fear.  Jesus knew that fear paralyzes us and hinders our ability to respond effectively to the challenges of life:  “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27). And make it your confession that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

Final Thoughts

“Even though our world has changed, the power of God has not changed; the truth of Scripture has not changed; the hope of Jesus has not changed.  Let us not give in to fear. Rather, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith.”  – Pastor Willy Rice, Calvary Baptist Church

It is my prayer that you walk in peace, health, and wisdom during these challenging days ahead.

Yours Truly,
Pamela
