“Get used to different.”
These are the words that Jesus spoke to Peter in the dramatization of his life portrayed in the Chosen Series (Season One, Episode Seven). Jesus had been gathering his disciples together, and he chose Matthew to join them. Peter protested, “But he’s a tax collector!” Matthew had betrayed his own people by working for the Romans collecting taxes. The Jewish people were suffering under Roman oppression. Tax collectors were traitors and hated by their own people. Jesus replied to Peter, but what about when I chose you? Peter had fallen to his knees with his head bowed low, telling Jesus “Depart from me, I am a sinful man!”
“But that’s different!” Peter exclaimed.
Jesus’s response?
“Get used to different.”

it’s because of the Chosen that you see the photograph above that includes me, my granddaughter, two sisters, and brother-in-law. We just returned from Midlothian, Texas where we participated in the filming for Season Three of the “Feeding of the 5000” episode. Joining us were 12,000 other Chosen fans. For two days, we endured the brutal heat in layers of 1st century clothing to film the dramatization of the miracle of Jesus Christ, who multiplied 2 loaves of bread and five fish into enough to feed over 5000 people.
Read about this miracle for yourself if you’re not familiar. You can find it in the gospels of the New Testament, (Matthew 14:13-2; Mark 6:30-44; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-14). It is simply fascinating! The disciples were gravely concerned. A large multitude of people had been sitting and listening to the words of the teacher all day, in a remote location where they would have to walk quite a distance to go to the nearby towns or villages to buy sustenance for themselves. The disciples were concerned that they may not have the energy to even do so! They shared their concerns with the Rabbi.
“You give them something to eat” Jesus responded.
The disciples were scrambling with what to do. A young boy witnessed their predicament and gave up the only food he had, five loaves of bread and two fishes.
And then the miracle took place. Jesus multiplied the food, dispersed it to the crowd. They ate and were full. When the disciples came to collect the leftovers, they filled 12 baskets with food! The people were provided with more than enough to curb their hunger and have provisions for the journey home.
The Chosen Series has brought to life the character of Jesus, and portrays his ministry that offers a message of hope which remains to this day.
Jesus is alive and is seated at the right hand of his father, our father, our creator. He has left us with his spirit until he returns again to restore the Kingdom of God on earth, where there will be no sorrows, no troubles, no wickedness, no conflict, or trauma or tears.
It may sound like a fairy tale to some; but it is truth to those who know him, and who have been born again by the spirit of God, into the family of God.
His invitation is for you too. He wants ALL to come to the knowledge of Him and his gift of redemption and hope. You can find out more about being born into the family of God by clicking here.
Meanwhile, we had a great time in Texas filming this re-dramatization of this awesome miracle. Don’t miss out on watching the Chosen Series and learn the love of Jesus for us all.
